There are real, free ways to make money at home, despite what all the hype marketers who want to get their hands in your pocket will tell you. It may take longer to get the results you want, but for many people, there is more time than money that can be invested in this economy.
While all the internet marketers will tell you to find something you love, or are passionate about and start there, that isn’t always the fastest route to making an income online. The reason you are told this is that if the subject, or niche, is something you are interested in and knowledgeable about, the work will be easier to stick with. That’s all well and good, but how does it get you paid?
Finding a niche topic, and creating a website or blog related to it are the usual first steps you are told to follow. This puts you in a position of having to create a market for your niche, and products related to it. You may be better off finding a niche that is already proven itself as a money maker, and focus on a segment of it you can capitalize on.
Blogs are one of the free ways to make money at home that many follow, using Wordpress and Blogger to start with. The mistake that is often made is that a blog is started, and the traffic doesn’t flood in, so the publisher loses interest, eventually giving up and starting on something else. Sticking with something when you are not seeing results may not make sense to some, but jumping from project to project with no clear plan or direction is more harmful than not even trying in the first place.
You need a plan, and goals firmly in place when you begin. Do your homework before starting, finding your topics, and how to monetize them. Once you begin your blog or website, there are other additions to it that are free ways to make money at home. Affiliate links placed on your site will give you a commission when your readers click the link and purchase a product. The trick is to get the click and sale in the first place. Simply adding links and adsense ads does not mean you will earn an income from the blog.
To really make the most of the free ways to make money at home, you will have to get the right type of person to visit your site, and deliver what they are looking for. This is called targeted traffic, and it is what you have to work toward getting. They will not find you if they do not know you are there, so some marketing will be necessary.
This can be done using paid advertising in the form of pay per click ads, banners on other sites, advertising in other newsletters, etc. Since the focus here is free ways to make money at home, what you will need to do will take more work than money. Start with writing articles, much like this one, using keywords related to your topic, to bring in traffic. How many articles? Dozens will be a good start, to increase the visibility of your site or blog. Post these articles on article directory sites, like this one, with links back to your pages that are related to the subject of the article.
